Mother’s Day reflections

The ache of not having you was too much

And although he said

He already had

I persuaded

Him

And then you

To come into being

And it was the most magical thing ever

Ever ever ever ever

And then

Another persuasion

Because one was not enough

And so you, too, two

Were persuaded

And the magic was doubled

And today, after eighteen as three

Seventeen as four

We are three again today

And I am weeping with both tears of loss

And of pride

Two people made by us

Two people both us and not us

Leaving

Eventually

And yet never really gone.
